How do I make a room feel bigger?

Here are our top five tips for giving the illusion of space.

Mirrors- Obvious but true. This goes for any reflective surfaces also.

One type of flooring- Using one floor finish throughout multiple spaces space will not only make it feel cohesive but larger. If this is not possible try to colour match one finish to the other. Eg a similar hue floor tile to the carpet in the room adjacent.

Furniture on legs- Whilst having all furniture pieces on legs will make the space look messy complimenting items such as sofas or beds that have a solid base with items on legs will give the impression of space.

Window treatments- Using ceiling fixed treatments rather than face fixed will give the illusion of height and grandeur.

Light and bright colour palettes- Good lighting and a lighter low contrast colour palette will instantly open up a room. Try switching the curtains for a lighter fabric or repainting in white for an instant fix.
