BATHROOM BITS…

The bathroom has always been one of my favourite rooms to dress.

Functionality + form, here’s how to create that luxury spa feel in your own home.

TOILETRIES - Why not treat yourself (or someone else!) to our organic Scandinavian skin-care products from Vielo or Meraki, both of which are sourced and sold by Studio & Style. Tip: We know these are a treat, and the bottles are too beautiful to just throw in the recycling once empty - So simply refill with your ‘everyday’ product and continue to enjoy, kinder to the environment and your wallet.

TRAYS - The addition of a tray can be both an effective way to elevate + group accessories on a surface, while also offering a practical space to keep jewellery contained and delicate surfaces protected from water or heat (for those hot-cloth and candle lit Sunday self-care sessions). Tip: Want luxury and durability? Think ceramic or marble. Want to add some warmth through texture, consider using trays made from distressed wood, jute or straw.

PRACTICAL ACCESSORIES - Instead of everyday items being hidden away taking up valuable storage space, invest into high-quality, beautifully made & unique accessories which become a display piece in their own right. Be clever with what you choose to display; Natural sponges, loafers and pumice stones are the perfect addition for those wanting to achieve a neutral, calming aesthetic within their bathroom, while quality flannels & towels with waffled or patterned weave are an effective way to add texture and warmth to a space. Tip: For a laid-back, relaxed aesthetic, towels can be hung or draped - If you want to create a more polished look display your towels in a neat roll or stack.

PLANTS - Most houseplants thrive in warm, humid habitats making them the perfect addition to your bathroom. By allowing your plants to thrive they’ll provide an injection of foliage, which is the perfect way to breathe life into an otherwise functional and sterile bathroom. Tip: Four of our favourite plants that thrive in humid areas; the boston fern, spider plant, aloe vera and snake plant.

JARS - Jars are an effective way to create a classic display, while freeing you of unsuitable, unnecessary packaging. Dispense salts, cotton buds + pads, soaps or sponges into beautiful glass jars to create a display that is both elegant and practical. Tip: Small details matter, white cotton buds can be swapped out for black versions to differentiate & elevate your display.

BATH MAT - Want to compliment (or cover up!) your bathroom flooring? Consider adding a bath mat in a pattern, natural texture, or unusual shape to add some vigor into an otherwise overlooked but essential area. Tip: Always check-out small washable rugs and runners as these are often available in a greater variety of styles and serve the same function.

FURNITURE - If you are lucky enough to have a larger bathroom with space to spare, consider adding a wooden stool or chair to an empty corner. Dress with a tray adorned with your favourite toiletries, stacked towels or simply use as a practical addition to help the little ones reach the sink. Tip: Source cost effective antique pieces through Facebook marketplace or your local reclamation yard to add a touch of class and history. Older items work well within both modern + traditional bathrooms, ensure you link finishes throughout the space to keep things cohesive.
